As the paint dries

As the paint dries on 2013 I’m still catching up with all the poetry books I’ve yet to read, in particular Alexander Hutchison’s new collection Bones and Breath , published by Salt just before the year was out, I’m very much looking forward to reading.
2013 was a great year for poetry in Glasgow: a new poetry bookshop opened – Tell it Slant; poetry friends produced fine works: Mark Russell published his first pamphlet, Pursued By Well-being, with the very respectable tall-lighthouse press; and Kathrine Sowerby and Sam Tongue launched an original poetry broadsheet, Fourfold.
On a personal note I particularly enjoyed collaborating with artist Kitty Jones, and it has spurred me on to pursue more collaborations this year and to start working on some ekphrastic poems that I’ve had an idea for, taking inspiration from other art forms.
